Alec Foster has 40 years experience within the insurance industry including 31 years with Hiscox. He is assisted by Nick Martin, a chartered accountant, who has over 9 years experience in the insurance industry. The Managers adopt a bottom up investment style as a result of in depth knowledge of the management and underwriting expertise of the companies in which the fund invests. Research is primarily undertaken in-house but is also obtained from industry and a short list of firms which specialise in the industry. The investment strategy has a strong quality bias and the managers prefer a buy and hold approach to portfolio management.
